Climate Change Condensed

"I found this course engaging, fun and ultimately it left me feeling very positive about our collective capacity to tackle climate change."
Rachel Segal Hamilton, Project Coordinator at Envision

Who is the course for?

The course aims to inform and engage participants who are new to the whole subject, even if they have read a bit in the press.  It has also proved an inspiring tool for activists in need of updated information or a refresher.
The half-day format and close group work makes this course particularly helpful for community awareness-raising and teambuilding.

What happens in the workshop?

As ‘guides’ to the issues, the workshop includes a thread of short video presentations by leading scientists and award-winning climate change journalists, George Monbiot and Mark Lynas.  The workshop is highly participatory, facilitating both group and partner discussions.

Topics covered include:
  • Causes and impacts of climate change
  • The need for adaptation
  • The scientific and political consensus
  • Denial
  • Personal carbon emissions
  • What will a low-carbon society look like?
  • Personal and collective strategies to tackle climate change
  • Optimistic visions of the future
