Refugee and Migrant Forum Update
On 19 October, participants from Africa, Asia and Latin America came together for the first ever UK Refugee and Migrant Climate Change Forum, held at the Amnesty Action Centre in London. The event was opened by Grace Adok of Latitude Care Network who called a minute’s silence for all those suffering climate change impacts across the globe. Scientist presentations were then given on climate change impacts on migration as well as the possibilities for adaptation. Participants brainstormed ideas about the kinds of action they’d like to take including lobbying, advocacy and awareness-raising. Further activities and meetings will be arranged to take these ideas forward. If you’re a refugee or migrant and would like to get involved in the Forum, please contact Hannah Smith, hannah@coinet.org.uk.
