Mobilisation on climate change engagement
COIN engages with communities and other types of organisations or sectors, such as trade unions or the human rights sector, to mobilise on climate change. This may involve setting up and supporting action groups or forums that enable people to express their ideas and concerns on climate change and to then take decisive action within their local communities or sector.
Community engagement:
Carbon Conversations:
In 2011 COIN took over the running of the Carbon Conversations programme from Cambridge Carbon Footprint, with the intention of supporting the national expansion of this engagement model. Carbon Conversations is a process of six friendly, practical meetings to help participants halve their carbon footprint. Designed for use by volunteer facilitators in community settings, Carbon Conversations can help deliver real change, with most participants reducing their carbon emissions by 1 tonne CO2 immediately . For more information visit the Carbon Conversations dedicated website.
Climate Action Groups:
COIN has previously developed its own community mobilisation model, Climate Action Groups, to help individuals work with their peers to reduce their carbon footprint. For more information and resources click here for the Climate Action Group page.
