Climate Change and Action Course for Refugees and Migrants
Wednesday 16 December 2009, 2:00pm - 5:00pm in London
Building on the success of the first refugee and migrant forum in October, COIN is offering free training for refugees and migrants on Climate Change and Action this December. At the October meeting, attendees voted for the forum to pursue long-term advocacy, lobbying and awareness-raising activities in relation to climate change. The 3-hour Climate Change and Action training session will provide the next step forward in building a powerful, collective voice on the issue. The first half of the session aims to build confidence and understanding when talking about climate change. The second half will look at aims and strategy development as a forum.
Topics to be covered in the December session include:
- Climate justice and redistribution of carbon rights
- The scientific and political consensus
- Protection for ‘climate induced migrants’
- Personal carbon emissions
- Personal and collective strategies to tackle climate change
- Optimistic visions of the future
Who is it for?
This training, to be facilitated by COIN, is for anyone from the refugee and migrant community in the UK who wants to know more or get involved in climate change issues. The session is for people with no knowledge of climate change just as it is for those with considerable experience!
When and where?
The 3 hour session will run from 2-5pm on Wednesday 16th of December, Venue T.B.C
