Ecovation/ Heritage Open Days

Thursday 10 September 2009 - Sunday 13 September 2009 in Oxfordshire

You are invited to yet another Ecovation Open Days event in Oxfordshire. This time it will run as part of the Heritage Open Day event 2009, which celebrates England's fantastic architecture and culture by offering free access to properties that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission. We think that in times of Climate Change eco-renovated and eco-built houses ought to play a major role in this event.

By being part of it we hope to bring across the importance of eco-renovation and give people a first hand experience of what goes into eco-renovating a house. We want to demonstrate that so much is in fact possible for the existing housing stock with your own pioneering work serving as an inspiring example and model which others can use for their own eco-renovation work. Architectural treasures as well as ordinary council homes are worth more the celebration, if they are based on sustainability. We hope to reach people from many different backgrounds and experiences and welcome especially first time visitors.

More than 20 houses in Oxford and Oxfordshire will open their doors to visitors from Thursday 10th to Sunday 13th September 2009.  In these 4 days you will be able to visit eco-houses in Oxford and Oxfordshire, which will be opening their door to members of the public.

The event aims to empower and inspire members of the public to make environmental changes to their own homes through seeing what practical steps other people have taken in their homes. It is about people learning from the experience of others and making positive changes to reduce their environmental footprint.
