Emerging Ideas and Future Projects

Here at COIN we are never short of ideas, although some of them have to remain on hold until we can fund them.

Climate change language

We’d like to do further work with experts in linguistics around the language and discourse of denial and evasion. We would also like to continue our work on the optimistic and forward -looking discourse around the changes a low carbon society will bring (rather than the apocalyptic language so often prevalent in the environmental sector).

Home energy efficiency

Our Ecovation project has been successful in helping homeowners to share ways of making their homes more energy-efficient. Think of how much could be achieved if COIN were able to build on its expertise in this area to reach out to tenants in the public housing sector! Our efforts would snowball.

Reaching the parts other environmentalists don’t reach

COIN prides itself on working with groups and individuals who do not see themselves as ‘green’. Work with groups as diverse as trades unionists, Human Rights NGOs and refugees, can serve as a model to be further tailored to the needs of new groups.

Participatory Video

We would love to work with the organisation InsightShare to raise awareness of climate change and poverty in the global south through Participatory Video.

Very funny comic

We would love to be able to pay the talented cartoonist Kate Evans to update her Funny Weather comic, which proved so attractive to students looking for materials on climate change to raise money and awareness at their stalls at Freshers’ Fairs.

If you’d like to see these projects get going, why not help us along the way by completing one of our standing order forms

Alternatively, if you’re working on similar issues, get in touch and share your thoughts.
